TicWatch S&E Review – Best Actiwear Smartwatch On The Market

A smartwatch is a wonderful lifestyle accessory, so you’ll want one to fit your unique lifestyle. TicWatch happens to make two – the TicWatch S and the TicWatch E – that are suited for the active lifestyle. If athletic performance and pursuits are more than just your hobby, but instead are the passion that drives you, the TicWatch S and E models are definitely for you.

Each has their own features, as we will cover in this TicWatch S&E review. Both are excellent choices of a smartwatch for the fit and active person, but you’ll find one is likely a bit more suited to you specifically than the other.

Bests Smartwatch For Active Lifestyles

The TicWatch S&E models are the activewear version of the TicWatch family, which are otherwise premium lifestyle smartwatches that are tailored for everyday wear. It isn’t so much that you couldn’t use a standard TicWatch (such as the TicWatch Pro or Classic models) in an active lifestyle, but more than the TicWatch S&E are purpose-built for it.

The watch runs on Google’s Wear OS and is compatible with Android 4.3 and later editions as well as iOS 8 and later editions, so it can be paired with almost any Android or Apple device. This gives you access to features like Google Assistant, and of course, Google Fit and other apps in the Google system.

Both watches feature GPS capabilities, so the ability to navigate as well as the ability to track is there. There is an included heart rate monitor, proximity sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and a compass as well.

Both watches are IP67 waterproof, so they can be left in up to a meter of water for a few hours without suffering any damage. Therefore, no need to worry about getting them wet.

Both watches feature a 1.4-inch OLED display and scratch-proof glass with 512 MB of memory on board. Bluetooth compatibility, obviously, as well as being compatible with 802.11 wifi, be it b, g or n. Both watches are also good for up to 48 hours on a charge.

So, both watches are packed with features and clearly are great smartwatches in and of themselves. What sets them apart?

TicWatch S vs TicWatch E

The internal components are basically the same and the features are pretty much the same. What set the TicWatch S vs TicWatch E apart? Basically, it’s the packaging. You’ll probably find one a bit more suited to your intended use, specifically, so it is definitely something to be aware of.

The TicWatch E – which is for “Express” – is a little lighter, at 41.5 grams, and a little smaller, having a 44mm diameter and being 13.55mm thick. The case of the watch is polycarbonate, making it more scratch-resistant than metal or other materials, and it has a traditional design of watch band. While it comes with a polymer watch band, you could ostensibly swap it with leather or other materials.

The TicWatch S – for “Sport” – however, is a little different. It is a little bigger but also slimmer, with a 45mm diameter but only 13mm in thickness. Granted, that’s hardly any difference and certainly not one you’ll notice. It is a little heavier, at 45.5 grams, which you may well notice.

Another key difference is the TicWatch S has the GPS antenna in the band, rather than inside the watch case. (Accounting for the 0.5mm decrease in thickness.) This allows for more precise tracking. Additionally, the band of the TicWatch S vs TicWatch E is not a traditional band attachment, appearing to be more integrated with the case…though you can change bands if you want.

What does that mean in practical terms?

The TicWatch E is the better all-arounder, fitting in seamlessly with all aspects of your lifestyle. Wear it to work, and then hit the trails, your favorite run routes or the gym without missing a beat. No one will notice.

On the other hand, the TicWatch S is a little better suited towards use in active roles almost exclusively. You could definitely wear it outside of the gym, off the trail or what-have-you; a TicWatch S in black would not scream “I’m wearing athletic gear to the office” at all. However, it definitely leans that way.

  • The TicWatch E starts at $159.99, which is very attainable for a smartwatch with these features.
  • The TicWatch S starts at $199.99, so that is certainly something to consider as well.

Both watches are at a discounted now in lieu of the holiday season. You can get the Ticwatch E for 30% off and Ticwatch S for 20% off.

One is designed as a smartwatch that fits into all aspects of your lifestyle including active pursuits, and the other is purposed for heavy active use. It’s not quite the difference between the typical pair of sneakers and a pair of track shoes, but it verges on it. Head over to Mobvoi and grab the best activwear smartwatch you’ll ever own.
