Best Bang For The Buck Headphones
There is nothing more relaxing than some nice tunes and a snazzy pair of headphones to go along with them. Having your favorite hits while you’re about can make your days more enjoyable, as well as adding a sense of wonder and emotion to life. Wear them while strutting downtown and you feel like you’re a fellow detective on Law and Order. The key to experiencing all of this is that you get a nice pair of headphones. There are literally hundreds of headphones for you to buy, but for the sake of this list and your pocketbook, we won’t go over $300.
Before we get started you have to know what to look for in a decent set of headphones.
HEADPHONE PRICE – First, you must look at the cost. Higher quality headphones will set you back a few hundred, but you don’t necessarily have to fork over an arm and a leg to get a good pair.
HEADPHONE COMFORT – Next is to see if the headphones are comfortable. Too often do a nice set become more trouble than their worth because they are cumbersome or start to become uncomfortable for everyday use. Our focus was to find a pair that’s comfortable. If your headphones become irritating after long or short periods of use, it can easily detract from the experience.
HEADPHONE SOUND QUALITY – They have to sound good. Audio quality is one of the most important aspects in choosing your headphones. Typically you want to avoid cheap headphones because that’s where the sound falls short. We want to cancel any background noise. Many higher end headphones have noise cancellation, which comes more in handy than you may think. However, this is a relatively premium add-on to get, so it may only benefit you if you wear them while working on a regular basis.
Lastly, we want to get a pair that has the best features and is the best bank for your buck. Plain and simple.
So without further ado, let’s get to the 8 best headphones for your dude living experience.
Best Earbud Headphones
ActionPie VJJB-V1S – High Resolution Heavy Bass In-ear Headphones | Amazon $24.99
ActionPie Vjjb-v1s (who comes up with these names?) have a great balance of portability and sound quality. You’ll only have to fork over $25 to get this decent pair. They also surprisingly comfortable for daily use, so that’s a plus!
MEE audio M6 PRO High Resolution Heavy Bass In-ear Headphones | Amazon 49.99
Growing up as a child, my father always placed a great emphasis on surround sound and good speakers. Our entire basement was then rigged with some nice speakers that have lasted well over twenty years and still work to this day. It makes me happy that companies are starting to produce a high-quality set of earbuds that block out any outside noise, have a great bass, and fit well in your pocket. All that for just under $50 too.
Bose IE2 Audio Earbuds | Amazon $99
These are pretty much some of the best sounding earbuds you can buy. They’re great for travel (considering they’re earbuds), aren’t too heavy on your wallet, and last a long time. Worth the investment if you can fork out $100 bucks.
Best Headphones (Over the Head)
Portable Headphones – Koss PortaPro | Amazon $37.99
I have to admit, I have a soft spot for all things unique. I always hate having the same stuff that someone else does. As such, I instantly fell in love with the design of the Koss PortaPro Headphones. But their niche comes in at more than just looks. They fold up for easy travel, are incredibly light, and sound fantastic. Still under $40.
Very Comfy Headphones – Audio-Technica ATH-M50 Professional Studio Monitor Headphones | Amazon $159
Now we’re starting to get a little more premium in the cost. However, these bad boys have an amazing sound quality, and fold up just like the Koss PortaPro. Despite being a little chunky, they still remain comfortable to wear.
Sony MDR-V6 | Amazon $98
When you hear the phrase “Stereo Headphones” you know you’re in for a treat. The Sony MDR-V6 is heralded as the best set of headphones you can buy for under $100. They’re comfortable, sound fantastic, and are great for work.
Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones | Amazon $90
These are probably some of the more popular headphones in existence. All of my friends have a pair, and have tried to convince me to get my own. They do sound pretty great, though not as great some other headphones in the price range. However, they look fashionably sexy, are very durable, and travel very well. A solid choice for people wanting a little more high-end product.
Bose QuietComfort – Amazon $299
It’s a testament to the craftsmanship of Bose when their headphones get our highest recommendations. While it’s definitely only for the frequent travelers, long commuters and people who live in front of monitors (that’s me). Coming in at a stellar cost of $300, it’s not hard to see why. They are the kings at blocking outside noise, are comfortable to wear at all times, and even comes with a travel case to make for easy packing. They’re also some of the best sounding headphones on the market.
