The AVI-8 Hawker Hurricane watch series is AVI-8’s bread and butter to a degree, as it’s their largest single collection of watches.
AVI-8 specializes in aviation-themed watches and specifically, classic British aviation. Each of their collections – with the exception of the Flyboy collection – is named for a famous British aircraft, including the Hawker Harrier, Hawker Hunter, Supermarine Seafire, Lancaster Bomber, and the Hawker Hurricane.
If you’re looking for an aviator-style watch with class that belies it’s affordable price tag, the AVI-8 Hawker Hurricane is certainly one to pursue.
AVI-8 Hawker Hurricane Watch
The AVI-8 Hawker Hurricane dial we received is the AV-4011-OC, which features a cream-colored dial set in a gunmetal gray stainless steel case.
The case is ion-plated, so you can expect the finish to last.
Inside resides a quartz Japan chronograph timepiece with date function. Lettering is a hardy black, which stands out very well from the cream colored face. The hour and minute hands have a white interior field with black bordering, for ease of reading.
The outside edge of the watchface is the tachymeter dial, though it isn’t located on the bezel as with some other watches. Inside the tachymeter is the 12-hour dial, and in the center of the watchface are three stopwatch dials, two directly above the center and one to the left of center. Left of center is the day, along with the AVI-8 logo.
The stopwatch dials above and below center are in 1/10th of a second and one second intervals, respectively. The stopwatch dial to the left of center is a one minute interval. The minute hand stopwatch is colored in the classic yellow, blue and white “target” from British aircraft of the day. Controls are on the right side of the watch, with stopwatch controls above and below the main winding post.
The strap for the AVI-8 Hurricane is made from tan genuine leather, with a buckle matching the case. The band is not overly thick though not overly thin either. In all, it’s a very attractive package, with a color scheme harkening to the classic camouflage colors of the Hawker Hurricane, without being explicitly “camo.”

AVI-8 Hawker Hurricane Review
A solid aviator-style watch with a very classy appearance, and goes well for most occasions. The tachymeter and stop-watch function may not be employed by many wearers, but having the latter is a very interesting function to have aboard.
The colors of this model are fairly neutral and can be worn in nearly any setting without being conspicuous. The watch is good for casual up to business wear. Black tie occasions may warrant a different watch or perhaps selecting a black banded model. In other words, it’s a fantastic watch for everyday use.
